IP strategy at the start: the decision that shapes everything

The decision between licensed and original intellectual property is often framed as a creative one, but it's fundamentally commercial. This choice ripples through approval dynamics, development speed, economics, control, scalability, investor confidence, and long-term flexibility—often in ways that aren't fully anticipated at the outset.

A recurring theme across the experiential sector: projects rarely stall because of a lack of creativity. More often, they slow under the weight of structural friction that could have been mapped and managed during early development. In immersive entertainment, IP strategy is commercial strategy.
