Patent Granted: VRLEO’s Self-Cleaning VR Headset System
We’re proud to congratulate VRLEO on the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 11,485,356 — a major milestone for a company reshaping how shared virtual reality experiences are delivered, sanitized, and scaled.
This newly granted patent covers VRLEO’s automated self-cleaning system for VR headsets — a smart docking station that disinfects contact surfaces between users using embedded elements like UV light. The innovation reduces human error, improves hygiene, and minimizes downtime in commercial and public VR settings.
Founder and CEO Patty Lui launched the project in 2019 and has since guided it through an ambitious evolution. As of September, VRLEO has achieved full ownership of its software platform, moved operations to an independent team in India, and launched major upgrades — including online/offline functionality and a new owner portal for arcade management.
In August, VRLEO units were installed at Smartech in Times Square, introducing this next-gen experience to one of the world’s busiest tech retail locations.
