Jane Davidson Discusses the Future of the Recording Industry at USC Alumni Event
Nolan Heimann Associate Jane Davidson was honored to speak on a panel for the USC Alumni Association Trojan Entertainment Network's "State of the Recording Industry" event. The panel discussion covered pressing topics such as the globalization of recorded music and film production, the adoption of AI technologies in entertainment, production incentives in California, and how entertainment professionals can adapt to the rapidly changing industry landscape.
When asked what gives her hope for the future of the industry, Jane shared a hopeful perspective:
"My hope for the future comes from looking at the past. We’ve only had the ability to record music for less than 150 years when we could only capture sound in a phonograph cylinder. Look how much has changed in that time. My mom had a record collection, I had a CD collection, and my USC students have streaming playlists—most never even bought a song on iTunes! We will continue to adapt to a changing commercial, technological, and regulatory landscape because we always have. The next generation still wants great music just as much as we did. Creators will keep creating and industry professionals will continue to find ways to make their dreams come true."
